The institute of Aesthetic Studies, Eastern University, Sri Lanka Named after Swamy Vipulananda in Kallady, Batticloa is to get a modern Auditorium along with the necessary audio visual equipments and four Vehicles through a Grant by the Indian High Commision, to the value of 300 million.
A Memorundum of Understanding (MoU) to confirm this Grant was signed between Indian High Commisioner Tranjith Singh Sandhu and the Secretary of the Ministry of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education Prasantha Mayadunne, in the presence of SLMC Leader, Minister Rauff Hakeem at the Ministry of Higher Eduacation on Monday (21).
Speaking at the event Minister Hakeem said, Swami Vipulananda institute is an important segment of the Eastern University which has contributed immensly to preserve the Arts and Culture of the Tamil of the Northern and Eastern provinces in particular and other Tamil speaking communities living in other parts of the country, adding that they have developed four degree courses and are in the process of developing two other new degree courses in the field of fine arts.
We wish this institute the very best in their future endeavour, he said.
